Breed is a computer game for Windows from CDV Software Entertainment .

It is a first-person shooter that is set on an earth occupied by aliens and heavily destroyed. As a member of the last spaceship on earth, the USC "Darwin", you fight against evil aliens that are half biological and half mechanical. You sometimes act in association with other fighters who are controlled by the computer. Vehicles such as tanks can also be controlled.

The biggest point of criticism on the part of the players was the AI, which was well below average for the release year . Various patches could not eliminate this problem either.

The game was announced well in advance and was competing with the Xbox shooter Halo when it was released , but Breed disappointed many players and fell far short of the popularity of Halo.

According to CDV, Breed reached 60,000 pre-orders at the time of publication, which is a respectable success for the manufacturer (rumors about liquidity problems at CDV kept making the rounds). The game was released in Europe and the USA.

A second part announced in the game ("To be continued" after the last level) has not yet been released.
