Brendan Carr

Brendan Carr is an Irish politician of the Irish Labor Party and from June 2016 to June 2017 the 347th Lord Mayor of Dublin .

Life

Carr attended the National College of Ireland , where he received a degree in industrial relations .

He was elected to the Dublin City Council for the first time on June 18, 1999 and was a member of it until 2009. During this time he was Deputy Lord Mayor of Dublin for one year from July 1, 2002 and was the first to hold this newly created post. After declining to run for family reasons in 2009, Carr was re-elected to the Dublin City Council in June 2014 .

On June 27, 2016, he was elected Lord Mayor of Dublin with 43 votes , replacing Críona Ní Dhálaigh , as a candidate for an electoral alliance between the Irish Labor Party, Sinn Féin , the Green Party and independent city council members from. His rivals Tina McVeight of the People Before Profit Alliance and Paul McAuliffe of the Fianna Fáil received nine and eight votes, respectively.

Carr is married and has one son.
