Brian Windley

Brian Frederick Windley (* 1936 ) is a British geologist. He was a professor at the University of Leicester .

Windley worked at the Geological Service for Greenland in Copenhagen and later professor in Leicester. He is particularly concerned with the development of the continental crust and the continental drift especially in the Precambrian period. He published a standard work on it. In addition to Greenland, he also dealt with the tectonics of Madagascar and the Himalayas, among other things.

In 1985 he received the Murchison Medal and in 2016 he was awarded the Leopold von Buch plaque .
