The Brides of Funkenstein were one of many spin-off projects from the P-Funk environment. The Brides were each background singers from productions by George Clinton and Bootsy Collins , for whom new songs were tailor-made. Under this name the albums "Funk or Walk" and "Never Buy Texas from a Cowboy" were released with changing line-ups.
