Envelope, franked as printed matter, 1981

On March 1, 1963, printed letters were introduced. The letter printed matter represented an intermediate stage between letter and printed matter in terms of postal handling and with regard to the fee . The basic form was the printed matter. When sending as printed letters, however, it could be expanded with the following additions in any process: Adding up to 10 words or letters, adding any number of digits, and deleting or underlining text passages if they are related to the printed text. Printed letters could weigh up to 500 g. Like printed matter, they had to be open and labeled "letter-printed matter".

Since April 1, 1993, there is no longer printed letters.
