Brigade of excellent quality

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The honorary title Brigade of Excellent Quality was a state award of the German Democratic Republic (GDR).

Possession of this title was a prerequisite for obtaining the honorary title of brigade of the highest quality , which was usually awarded when a brigade had been awarded the honorary title of brigade of excellent quality for six months in a row. The honorary title mentioned here was first awarded on June 14, 1950 to excellent collectives of the Deutsche Reichsbahn .

In contrast to other awards, the title was not visibly emphasized with a medal or the like. An unofficial badge shows a gold emblem, which consists of a red ring on a white background in its center. A closed fist with a wrench is said to have been depicted on this ground. Under the red ring was a black band with the inscription: BRIGADE OF EXCELLENT QUALITY . It has not yet been possible to determine whether the badge described here was actually awarded.
