The British Chamber of Commerce in Germany e. V. (BCCG, British Chamber of Commerce in Germany e.V.) is a privately financed non-profit organization. It was founded in Cologne in 1919 and in Hamburg in 1921, closed in the early 1930s and re-established in Cologne / Bonn in 1960. The patron is the British ambassador.

Its members include around 1,000 companies and the self-employed, of which around 11% are sustaining members. In addition, a number of young members (up to 40 years of age) are networked in the Young BCCG group. The network includes over 4,000 personal contacts. The BCCG is the largest British Chamber of Commerce in Europe, and the second largest international Chamber of Commerce in Germany.

The BCCG is based in Berlin. The management there is responsible for looking after the members and organizing nationwide events.

Events

The BCCG and the regions hold around 100 events each year, which offer the opportunity to exchange ideas and to initiate and maintain contacts. The BCCG is a neutral platform for topics and speakers at the events.

The different focal points of the events are based on current topics. These offer members and guests the opportunity to discuss their own issues in the light of current issues. Members and guests are welcome.

Trade relations with Great Britain

British-German trade and economic relations are among the most important in Europe. The British-German trade volume is around 177 billion euros, the third largest in the EU and one of the largest in the world (2016). The UK export volume to Germany was around 38 billion euros in goods. The German export volume to the UK was around 92 billion euros, the service trade volume was 46 billion euros, of which UK to Germany 22 billion, Germany to UK 24 billion.

BCCG publications

Each May, the BCCG publishes a yearbook with the directory of members and further articles on economic topics, which are sent to the members. In addition, the BCCG Bulletin will be published in December, a members' magazine with specialist articles on topics such as economics, law and taxes. In addition, the members and personal contacts (over 4000) are regularly informed by e-mail about events and short messages of the members with the BCCG E-News Update.

BCCG Foundation

The BCCG Foundation (BCCG Foundation) was founded in 1983 by members of the BCCG and endowed with a foundation amount to promote bilateral study exchanges. It is run on a voluntary basis independently of the BCCG. With the income from donations from the members and supporters of the BCCG, students with master’s courses in Germany or Great Britain are supported every year. In the last 30 years, an average of 5 students per year have been supported.
