Since going public on May 22, 2000, mediascape has continued to work on expanding the broadband infrastructure. By taking over four local Internet service providers in 2000, mediascape communications AG greatly expanded its range. In 2002, Broadnet Deutschland GmbH was taken over by the US company Comcast . Since then, the broadband internet carrier has operated initially as broadnet mediascape communications AG, from 2005 the official company name was only Broadnet AG. In July 2002, Broadnet took over KKFnet AG, a nationwide DSL carrier. Broadnet had the telecommunications licenses of classes 3 and 4 (permission for the operation of telephony and data communication). The company has grown steadily and generated sales of 51.1 million euros in the 2006 financial year, an increase of 39 percent compared to the previous year.

As of June 2006, the company had a majority shareholder, QSC AG from Cologne, who also came from the telecommunications sector.
