Broughton (Cumbria)

Coordinates: 54 ° 40 ′  N , 3 ° 26 ′  W Broughton is a civil parish with 1727 inhabitants (2001) in Cumbria in northwest England. The Civil Parish consists of the parts Great Broughton and the directly adjacent Little Broughton and Broughton Cross , the former station of the Cockermouth and Workington Railway . Great Broughton had a station on the Cleator and Workington Junction Railway between 1879 and 1908. The Broughton Moor naval ammunition depot existed until 1992,and was connected to the last still operated section of the Cleator and Workington Junction Railway until its closure.
