Browser Helper Object

Browser Helper Objects ( BHO ) are computer programs that extend the functions of Internet Explorer . BHOs are used from version 4 of Internet Explorer. You have direct access to the Document Object Model (DOM).

BHOs are used by companies such as Adobe ; the "Adobe Acrobat add-in" extension enables Internet Explorer to display PDF files directly in the browser. Since they have unhindered access to all Internet Explorer functions, some malicious programs also create their own BHOs. B. a part of the user behavior on the Internet records and sends to marketing companies.

BHOs can be removed from the registry with the Regedit program . Microsoft Edge , the successor to Internet Explorer, no longer supports Browser Helper Objects; instead, an expansion system is used.
