  • the title of a novella:
Luise Rinser : Brother Fire. 1st edition. Thienemann: Stuttgart 1975, ISBN 3-522-12290-9 .
Luise Rinsers tells of a man in the 1970s whose biographical turning points and decisions seem to resemble those of Francis of Assisi.
A journalist is sent to Assisi to research this “crazy revolutionary” who inspires the young people in the area and gathers them in a commune . What he gets to hear is contradictory and makes him curious. Just like in a crime game, puzzle piece is attached to puzzle piece - and stimulates the reader to form their own opinion. The initial question on which the novella is based, which response a Francis of Assisi would evoke today, seems to be so exciting to many readers that the text has often been reissued.
