The BruderhausDiakonie is a foundation under civil law (BGB). In Baden-Württemberg, it maintains numerous facilities for youth welfare, assistance for the disabled, care for the elderly, in social psychiatry as well as in the field of work and vocational training. With around 5,000 employees, it works for around 10,000 people.
history
In 1834 Vicar Gustav Werner began his diaconal work in Walddorf near Reutlingen. He soon founded an industrial school and a kindergarten and bought a factory in Reutlingen, the profit of which he wanted to finance his social projects. In 1855 he called his diaconal institution Bruderhaus and wanted to support his neighbors, but above all people with disadvantages, and offer them an education and a home. In order to ensure the continued existence of his social work, he founded the Gustav Werner Foundation for the Brother House in 1881 . The foundation then grew into a large aid network in Baden and Württemberg. In 1952, the then board member of the Gustav Werner Foundation, Paul Stäbler, founded the diaconal company Haus am Berg gGmbH , of which the Gustav Werner Foundation was a partner. In 2002 the Gustav Werner Foundation and Haus am Berg gGmbH merged to form a corporate group and merged in 2004 under the name of BruderhausDiakonie. Various German engineering pioneers worked in the machine factory of the BruderhausDiakonie in Reutlingen. Gottlieb Daimler managed the factory from 1865 to 1869 . At that time, the automobile designer Wilhelm Maybach and Ferdinand C. Weipert , who later owned the Ferdinand C. Weipert lathe factory, also worked there .

The BruderhausDiakonie is managed by a three-person board, a commercial board who is chairman of the board, a technical board and a theological board. The supervisory body of the BruderhausDiakonie is the twelve-member foundation board. It advises the board of directors on projects and decisions and is also a supervisory body.
The general employee representation of the BruderhausDiakonie is represented in the foundation assembly. The Foundation Assembly elects the members of the Foundation Council, decides on amendments to the Articles of Association and takes note of the work of the Board of Directors and the Foundation Council.

The youth welfare sector includes outpatient, semi-inpatient and inpatient residential groups, assisted youth housing, educational support, day-care centers and schools.
Disability assistance
The offers of the disabled assistance are aimed at people with intellectual and / or multiple disabilities. The handicapped assistance offers outpatient and inpatient assisted living, educational and leisure opportunities.
Elderly care
The offers are aimed at seniors and include a wide range of help and support services. This includes outpatient services, living with service (assisted living), senior centers, day care, leisure and advisory services.
Social psychiatry
The services of social psychiatry include outpatient and inpatient help, housing, care and advice. This also includes the organization of the day and the introduction to work.
Work and training
These include workshops, training companies as well as a special vocational school and a special vocational school. Numerous offers promote placement in work on the general labor market.
