Brunon Gęstwicki

Brunon Gęstwicki , German: Bruno Gestwicki , (born February 2, 1882 in Marienwerder ; West East Prussia, German Empire; † December 8, 1969 in Toruń ) was a Polish painter and illustrator.

Gęstwicki spent the first years of his life in his hometown. As a result of his parents moving, he lived in Thorn from 1886. After finishing school, he studied at the Academy of Arts in Berlin. He then worked as a draftsman in Berlin from 1905 to 1919, producing a large number of caricatures , among others, for the magazine Funny Leaves founded by Alexander Moszkowski . He also illustrated books. After the end of the First World War , he returned to Thorn and increasingly turned to portraiture. He stayed in his homeland even after it came to Poland.

His brother was the painter Felix Paul Gestwicki, Polish: Feliks Paweł Gęstwicki , (1884-1935).
