As breeding season is called in ornithology the period between the laying of the first ice and hatching of the last chick during a season.

Breeding periods depend on the individual bird species , but they are also determined by the respective habitat . For example, the widespread pond claw begins to breed in Central Europe from mid-April. Their breeding period lasts until July, as the first clutch can be followed by a second and, under optimal conditions, even a third brood. In the Indian highlands of the Ghat , where the pond claw breeds at an altitude of up to 1700 meters, the breeding season is limited to the rainy season from July to August.
