The Bryant-Denny Stadium is an American football stadium on the campus of the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa in the US state of Alabama . It is the home of the Alabama Crimson Tide college football team , which is part of the NCAA . The stadium was originally called Denny Stadium , named after George Hutchenson Denny, a former president of the university, and was given the addition of success coach Paul "Bear" Bryant in 1975. With an official audience capacity of 101,821, it is the SEC's third largest, the NCAA's fifth largest, the seventh largest in North America and the eighth largest in the world. The stadium has been sold out at every home game since the 1988 season.

As a replacement for Denny Field , Denny Stadium was opened on September 28, 1929 and inaugurated the following week with a game against the Ole Miss Rebels . Originally the stadium had a capacity of 12,000 spectators. The first expansion took place in 1937 when the capacity was increased to 18,000. In 1950, 1961, 1966, 1988, 1998 and 2006 the capacity was gradually increased to 92,138.

In February 2009, the university's monitoring committee approved a stadium expansion in the southern end zone. Since the 2010 season, the audience capacity has increased to 101,821.
