Brzeziński is the name of various Polish noble families. The name is also used as an epithet of the noble families von Spiczak , von Bastian and von Świątek from Adlig Briesen (Brzeźno Szlacheckie) in West Prussia . It also appears as the surname of numerous Polish families without noble origins.

Since the Lublin decree of 1569 it has been customary for the Polish nobility to give themselves an epithet after the place name in which the property was located and so the above-mentioned noble families gave themselves the nickname Brzeziński, which derives from the Polish name of the Briesen (Brzeźno) estate. derives and means something like "from Briesen".
