Bastian Brzeziński is the name of a Kashubian noble family whose ancestral seat was Adlig Briesen (Brzeźno Szlacheckie) in Western Pomerania . Branches of the family persist to this day.

origin of the name

The name Bastian Brzeziński is not a double name. The nickname Brzeziński added to the tribe name Bastian is derived from the Polish name of the headquarters and means something like "to Briesen". This nickname was also given to the von Spiczak family , who also owned noble estates in Briesen. Since the Lublin decree of 1569, it was customary for the nobility to give themselves an epithet after the place name in which the property was located. The Bastian owned further estate shares in Trzebiatkow . Not all branches of the family adopted the nobility predicate "von" in the 18th century under Prussian influence as a name addition, but members of the family appeared in church registers as " nobilis " or " szlachetny " as early as the 17th century . This sex is still flourishing today in Poland and Germany.

coat of arms

The coat of arms shows three red roses along the dividing line at the top on the shield, which is divided diagonally to the right, and an upturned fish at the bottom. Three ostrich feathers on the helmet .
