The Buabeng Fiema Monkey Conservation Reserve is a wildlife reserve issued by the regional authorities in the Bono East region of Ghana . This reserve is only 80 hectares in size.

The Buabeng-Fiema monkey protection reserve is located in a transition area between the tropical rainforest and the wet savannah . It is located 30 kilometers northeast of the regional capital Techiman .

Unlike most other national parks and reserves, this area owes its foundation to the traditional religion in Ghana. The area of ​​this reserve lies on traditionally sacred ground, in which the Geoffroy colobus monkeys ( Colobus vellerosus ) and the Leo monkeys ( Cercopithecus lowei ) resident in this area have been venerated as sacred animals for many decades . A strict religious taboo and a hunting ban watch over them .

The Leo monkeys are one of the very rare animals. About 250 animals live here and even penetrate into the villages in their foraging. About 150 of the Geoffroy colobus monkeys live in this reserve.
