Buccal cavity

The buccal cavity or oral cavity is a deepened area in the cell surface of ciliate animals . It lies either on the ventral side or at the front end of the cell and represents a vestibule in which nutrients come to lie. The buccal cavity is often complexly ciliate ( membranelle ).
