The natural monument beech old wood on the Eisenbornbach (also beech old wood on the Eisenbornbach ) has been a designated area natural monument in the Dresdner Heide since 1985 . It covers 1.7 hectares on both sides of the upper reaches of the Eisenbornbach on a nearly 500 meter long section . The reason for the protection by the Dresden Council was the "natural forest society" and the associated "last [...] occurrence of the stock pigeon ( Columba oenas ) in the Dresden heath".

The monument area is located northeast of the city center of the Saxon state capital Dresden in the southwestern part of the landscape protection area (LSG) Dresdner Heide. The location is along the Eisenbornbach, north of the double E from about the aisle 17 to the aisle 18. The easternmost of the four Upper Fischmannsteiche is therefore in the protected area. The widest part of the protected area is a good 50 meters.

At the Sachsenforst state enterprise , this location in the Dresden forest district belongs to the Bühlau district, forest division 68.

In this protected area of ​​a "near-natural forest community with a high proportion of old beech " ( red beech ), the deadwood of which remains there, there is a fine-material seepage source from the Eisenbornbach, the source in the FND beech old wood . Its near-natural source area partially reveals several striking exit points in the sand. In it were stone and caddis fly larvae and flatworms are detected.
