A bucky table is a device for taking x-rays. It was named after its inventor, Gustav Peter Bucky . The table consists of a floating plate on which the patient lying on it can be moved in all directions. The X-ray tubeis located above the table and can also be attached to the ceiling. It can also be moved freely in space. This makes the system very flexible in use and recordings can be made from many angles. There used to be a holder for X-ray cassettes or image plates with the chambers for the automatic exposure under the table top. In the meantime, however, digital detectors are used almost exclusively, which digitally transmit the image data to the control console immediately after the recording, where it can be post-processed and sent to the PACS . An anti-scatter grid is located between the table top and the X-ray detector. The bucky table is part of the basic equipment of every X-ray department and is almost always part of a bucky workstation, which also contains a grid wall unit for taking pictures while standing.
