Federal-state talks

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A federal-state conversation is a top-level political discussion between the federal government and several affected or all state governments of the German federal states . The federal and state governments are represented by members of their respective highest authorities.

Discussions usually take the form of meetings or conferences; usually a representative of the federal government (e.g. a federal minister ) invites them. They are often agreed and arranged at short notice, e.g. B. because the topic appears to be urgent or because there is political will to work on a topic quickly or "clear away".

The federal-state talks aim for B. to discuss political concepts, to discuss legislative proposals, to exchange information and opinions or to develop opinions on political issues.

The resolutions are formally not binding.
