Federation of Free Germany

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Bund Free Germany was a short-lived party in West Berlin . It was founded in May 1974. The chairman was Ernst Scharnowski . Prominent supporters of the party were Gerhard Löwenthal , Axel Springer and Matthias Walden .

The BFD only entered the election for the Berlin House of Representatives in 1975 , where it achieved 3.4% and thus failed because of the 5% threshold . During the election campaign, the party was supported by Franz Josef Strauss , among others .

As a result of the missed entry into the House of Representatives, some members converted to the CDU Berlin , and the party disbanded as a result.
