Association of baptismal congregations

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Bund Taufgesinnter Congregations (BTG) is a working group of independent evangelical congregations and organizations. He advocates Anabaptist principles. The member congregations of the covenant are composed of Mennonite fraternal congregations , Baptists and Gospel Christians .

history

The federal government Taufgesinnter communities was created in 1989 from the merger of six Baptists communities, mainly from the region of East Westphalia-Lippe . The communities were formed mainly from Russian mennonites who immigrated to Germany . Despite the merger in an association, the independence of the individual communities should continue to be guaranteed. In 2009, 27 municipalities with a total of 6,100 members belonged to the federal government. The BTG includes the Bibelseminar Bonn , the Bad Eilsen aid for those at risk and other mission and aid organizations. Internationally, the federation is represented in the Committee of the Mennonite Brethren ( International Committee of Mennonite Brethren, ICOMB ) founded in 1990 in Winnipeg , Canada .

In the spring of 2010, the Bund Taufgesinnter Congregations stood together with the Working Group of Mennonite Brethren Congregations for the anniversary events for the 150th anniversary of the Mennonite Brethren Congregations in Germany.

basis

The declared basis of cooperation is the Bible , which is recognized by all member churches and works as the infallible and unreservedly valid word of God inspired by the Holy Spirit. In addition, the member congregations see the revised version of the Mennonite Brethren Churches' Creed of 1902 and the Chicago Declaration on the Bible and Hermeneutics of 1978 as guidelines for cooperation in theological terms.

An important principle of the BTG is the independence of the member communities and plants. The member communities and organizations are independent in regulating internal community issues. A cross-plant or cross-community collaboration is aimed primarily at areas in which the tasks can be mastered better and more effectively together.

The congregations working together in the federation only recognize the so-called baptism of faith . The covenant understanding of the general priesthood means that every man - women are excluded from it - may preach. Furthermore, they want to dedicate themselves to "peacemaking" and generally reject any violence.

Goal and task

The main aim of the BTG is to glorify God in church work and to found and build new churches ( mission ). The main task is to take care of organizational matters such as conferences and legal matters such as insurance for the affiliated communities. A Pentecost conference is held annually.
