The Federal Association of Self-Employed People (BDS) is a cross-sector, nationwide association based in Berlin . The federal association and its regional associations jointly represent around 60,000 companies, around 20,000 of them in Baden-Württemberg.

tasks

The federal government supports small and medium enterprises in the start-up , in law and in daily business practice. It represents the interests of small and medium-sized enterprises and in particular of small businesses at the state and federal level.

structure

On the one hand, members are local trade and industry associations , which are grouped together in regional associations. On the other hand, members of the regional associations are also individual, especially small and medium-sized traders and freelancers from all sectors. At the federal level, they are represented by the federal association, which has its headquarters in Berlin. In Brussels, the interests of the self-employed are protected by the European umbrella organization UEAPME (European Association of Craft, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises).

Günther Hieber became President of the Federal Association and the State Association of Baden-Württemberg in February 2008 .
