The Union Européenne de l'Artisanat et des Petites et Moyennes Entreprises (UEAPME) is an umbrella organization that represents the interests of the crafts and small and medium-sized enterprises in the European Union at European level .

Member association

The association, founded in 1979, has its headquarters in Brussels and, as an employers' association, represents 67 member organizations at European level. These are national cross-industry associations, European industry associations and other associated members who support SMEs. Within the EU, the association represents the interests of 12 million companies with around 50 million employees, and throughout Europe it represents 11 million companies with around 50 million employees.

The association is a non-profit and non-partisan organization. Through the merger with EUROPMI in July 1999, it became the only company representative for craft and SMEs active throughout Europe. As a result of a cooperation agreement with the European industrial and employers' association Businesseurope , it is the negotiating European social partner .

tasks

The association sees itself as a "mouthpiece" for craft businesses and SMEs in Europe. Its main tasks and objectives include:

  • Preservation and representation of the common interests of its members towards international institutions
  • Informing members of all European Union policy issues that concern them
  • Academic, technical and legal support for its members in all EU policy matters
  • Supporting European integration and promoting European cooperation
  • Realization of common tasks on behalf of their members and search for solutions to all problems related to the above goals
