Businesseurope , (own spelling BUSINESSEUROPE ), is a European employers ' and lobbyists' association based in Brussels . In 2019 it had 40 member associations from 35 countries.

history

The association existed under different names since 1949. Until January 23, 2007 it was called Union of Industrial and Employers' Confederation of Europe (UNICE).

The organization consists of 60 working groups. 1200 experts work in these groups to analyze draft laws and EU programs and optimize them from a business perspective. After the ERT ( European Roundtable of Industrialists ), which works with Businesseurope, Businesseurope is one of the largest lobbying organizations based in Brussels.

The association is headed by a president. This office has been held by the following people since 1990:

The head of administration is a general manager . Markus Beyrer has held this position since 2013 .

activities

The European employers' association is one of the most active supporters of the planned TTIP agreement. BusinessEurope Day has been held annually since 2014. The self-proclaimed goal is to bring together a select group of corporate and political decision-makers to discuss specific trade-related policy issues. Among the speakers was Martin Schulz .
