The Mount Adagdak is a 610 m high stratovolcano , located on the northeastern tip of Adak Iceland in the Aleutian Islands , Alaska , USA . The mountain is 1.4 km south of Cape Adagdak , after which the volcano was named in 1948. The Adagdak shares a volcanic center with Andrew Bay and Mount Moffett . Mount Adagdak was formed in the Holocene or Pleistocene and has not erupted in historical times. Three phases of volcanic activity have been mapped, the most recent of which is a lava dome estimated to be 210,000 years old. In the summit crater there is an andesitic lava dome, which forms the highest point of the volcano. There is a basaltic lava dome on the southeast flank. There are several hot spring areas in the Andrew Bay caldera, which is part of the volcano .
The northern part of the island of Adak was geologically examined with regard to possible geothermal energy generation.
