The Federal Working Group on Religiously Justified Extremism e. V. ( BAG RelEx for short ) is an umbrella organization of associations and carriers of prevention and distancing or deradicalization work in the area of ​​religious extremism . It was founded in November 2016 and represents a large number of sponsors, associations and initiatives. There are currently 32 members of the BAG RelEx.

The BAG RelEx is u. a. funded by the federal program “Demokratie Leben! of the Federal Ministry of Family Affairs . Since the beginning of 2020, the BAG RelEx, together with ufuq.de and VPN, has formed the competence network 'Islamist Extremism'.

Board

The current board consists of Friederike Müller (managing director of IFAK eV ), Amir Alexander Fahim (TGD e.V. ), Derviş Hizarcı (chairman of KIgA e.V.) and Thomas Mücke (managing director of VPN ). Former board members are Dr. Götz Nordbruch ( ufuq.de ), Tobias Meilicke (TGS-H e.V.) and Samy Charchira (Die AGB eV).

The work of the board is coordinated by an office based in Berlin under the direction of Jamuna Oehlmann and Rüdiger José Hamm.

Goals and general activity

The Federal Working Group on Religiously Based Extremism, BAG RelEx for short, promotes and supports the nationwide networking of civil society actors who are committed to successful and sustainable prevention and de-radicalization in the field of religiously based extremism. The federal working group offers a platform for professional exchange and supports them in the preparation and development of quality standards. The BAG RelEx represents the interests of civil society actors in the prevention and deradicalization work towards politics, science and administration and brings their experiences and perspectives into the scientific and political debate. The BAG RelEx informs those looking for advice and those interested in the topic and arranges contacts on site.

The BAG RelEx sees itself as a platform and interface between civil society actors, politics and the public. It would like to promote professional exchange, optimize content and methods, further develop quality standards in prevention and exit work and thus strengthen the commitment of members against religiously based extremism. Offers for a wider public raise awareness of the need for civil society to combat religious extremism.
