The Federal Commercial Academy and Federal Commercial School Laa an der Thaya is a commercial academy in Laa an der Thaya in Lower Austria .

prehistory

As early as 1880 people began to think about a higher commercial or agricultural education and at the instigation of the Laa merchants a trade school was built in 1918, but this could not last long. So the desire for a business school remained. In 1934 Otto Farny published an article in the local press urging the establishment of a business school. Years later, some business people from Laa founded an association to promote the municipal business school and thus gave another impetus to establish a school. The provisional director of the secondary school at the time , Anton Zippe, provided the premises, and so in September 1938 commercial training began for 46 boys and 30 girls in two classes. The next year the school moved to the second floor of the town hall of Laa.

When the commercial schools turned three in 1963 and the number of students in parallel classes was 36, the municipality initially made only one room available in the student and youth home at the Laa an der Thaya federal high school and high school, but the entire commercial school moved to this new one in December Building.

founding

Following the trend towards higher vocational training, a commercial academy was set up in Laa in 1966, the first in the Weinviertel. The first school class began in September 1966, and in October 1967 the old renovated building on the market square was handed over for school operations and subsequently equipped with increasingly better special classrooms, for which the fund of the Viennese merchants could be obtained from 1971 onwards ; Nevertheless, the lack of space remained great, despite the newly made available classrooms on Burgplatz.

Efforts to build a new building led to success in October 1984 when construction began on today's school building. The new building at the train station was ready for occupation in 1989.

School profile

The Handelsakademie Laa an der Thaya is concerned with modern teaching design and offers lessons in laptop classes and on learning platforms in digital clouds. The Handelsakademie in Laa also places great value on internationality: During various stays abroad, including free Erasmus + trips, the young people get to know new cultures and also learn about linguistic diversity. Thanks to a diverse range of seminars, students have a wide range of options from the first year onwards; they can choose individually from the fields of computer science, languages, law, health and ecology, as well as from creative and sporting areas.
