from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the federal system of the Federal Republic of Germany, federal policy refers to all policy areas that affect the Federal Republic as a whole or are to be regulated uniformly.

This is regulated in Article 70 of the Basic Law. This will be

the exclusive legislation of the Federation in Art. 71 and Art. 73 GG, which includes the areas of federal policy, and

the competing legislation ( state policy ) from Art. 72 , Art. 74 , Art. 74a and Art.75 ( Memento of May 29, 2006 in the Internet Archive ) of the Basic Law. This gives the states the possibility of their own legislation "as long as and to the extent that the federal government does not make use of its legislative rights."

The classic areas of federal policy include, for example, foreign policy and defense policy .
