The Bundesrealgymnasium Wels Wallererstraße (BRG Wels Wallererstraße; Wallerergymnasium ) is a Realgymnasium with a focus on sports in the Upper Austrian city of Wels . It was built in 1972 as an extension to the Brucknerstrasse high school.
history
Construction began on April 24, 1972. The first and second grades of the Brucknerstrasse grammar school were supposed to move to the newly built part of the building, but there were so many students that 5 years later it was decided to build it as an independent school. The building was occupied, the lawn was laid out and there was a shortage of teachers. In the 1980s, a sports field and a gym were built. In 1991 the construction of the extension began. In the following year, the property next to the school was bought as an area for a sports field. In 1994 the expansion of the grammar school was completed. Ten years later, computer-aided teaching was introduced again, initially for the first grades. In 2016–2018 it was rebuilt or added on and a transition to the Brucknergymnasium was also created.
Educational offer
There is a secondary school and a sports branch for students who are new to the school. From the fifth grade you can choose between French and Latin as a second foreign language alongside English. In the next level, you have to decide on your elective subjects. In addition to a third foreign language such as Russian or Spanish, you can also choose natural science subjects such as physics and biology. You can also choose from subjects such as TheoPrax or computer science.

There are four main areas of focus at this school:
- Talent and excellent grants
The gifted and excellent promotion is offered to students with special talents. They are supported and promoted with talent development courses and enrichment offers. You can enjoy summer academies and workshops at universities of applied sciences. There are contacts for both parents and students.
- E-education
E-Education is an initiative of the Ministry of Education. It is used by teachers and students in the form of learning platforms. The goals are, among other things, a critical, far-sighted and good use of new media.
- UNESCO
The BRG Wels Wallererstraße has been one of the UNESCO schools in Austria since 2005 . This is intended to teach students about democracy awareness and tolerance. Contacts with schools abroad are compulsory.
