Professional association cinematography
The BVK - Berufsverband Kinematografie eV , until 2012 the Federal Association of Camera eV , is a professional interest group in the field of image creators (Directors of Photography, Cinematographers, Cinematographers) , camera operators , first and second camera assistants, light determiners / colorists , DITs (Digital Imaging Technicians), still photographers and other employees are organized in the field of cinematography or in the post-production of cinematographic works.
The BVK follows the tradition of the first professional association of this profession in Germany, which was initially founded in 1925 as the KDK (Club of German Cameramen) and the CDK (Club of German Cameramen), which was re-established in 1950. Today the BVK has over 500 personal members. It also includes companies from the film and television industry as sponsoring members.
goals and tasks
Aims and tasks are professional dialogue, securing working conditions that guarantee artistic and creative work, further development of job profiles, cooperation in legislation in the media sector, professional advice to members, implementation of copyright law in the field of image design / cinematography, representation in specialist committees and the conclusion of collective agreements (as GVR - Common Remuneration Rules or as collective agreements). In addition to its annual conferences, the association organizes monthly regional meetings in the most important film locations in Germany and publishes an annual CameraGuide through its 100% subsidiary bvkmedien GmbH.
Activities and memberships
The professional association for cinematography is next to the Phillips University Marburg u. a. Co-organizer of the Marburg Camera Talks that have been taking place since 1997 (with the Marburg Camera Prize since 2001). He is a founding member of IMAGO (umbrella association of European cinematographers' associations), member of CineTechnik Bayern eV, Paul-Klinger Künstlerozialwerk, represented on the board of directors of the collecting society VG Bild-Kunst . BVK is the sole shareholder of bvk Medien GmbH, based in Graefelfing near Munich.
