Federal Association for the New Energy Industry

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Bundesverband Neue Energiewirtschaft e. V. (bne) is a Berlin- based association that is active within the German energy industry in the fields of electricity, gas and energy services.

The association represents the interests of energy traders and suppliers as well as service providers who are dependent on the network infrastructure of third parties for their business activities. He is also committed to the interests of energy producers who build or plan energy generation plants in Germany. From nine members at the time the association was founded, their number had grown to 47 by December 2017.

history

On September 25, 2002, the bne was created as the Federal Association of New Energy Suppliers. V. from the two predecessor organizations Free Energy Service Providers Association (FEDV) and the Initiative Pro Competition (IPW).

The trigger for the establishment were the energy law adjustments for the years 2002 and 2003 through the association agreements II Plus for the electricity and Gas II for the gas market. Both of the agreements negotiated with the participation of the Federal Association of German Industry (BDI, as a representative only of industrial customers) and the governing energy industry associations, did not do justice to the liberalization of the German electricity and gas market intended by the legislator in 1998 from the point of view of the founding members of the bne . (With the second amendment of the Energy Industry Act in 2005, the network access negotiated up to then (association agreements as self-regulation of the industry) was replaced by state-regulated network access (regulation by the Federal Network Agency).) The founding members attributed this mainly to the insufficient will of the negotiating partners to support to use a non-discriminatory electricity and gas market. The members of the association are therefore recruited from newcomers to the German energy market and from subsidiaries of established companies.

The bne has been a member of the sponsoring association of the Energy Arbitration Board , which started its work on November 1, 2011.

In 2014 the bne named itself the Federal Association for the New Energy Industry, as the range of services offered by the member companies has expanded since it was founded.

aims

The main concern of the association is to create an energy market that is always market-based, non-discriminatory and transparent. In the opinion of the bne, this also requires the control of the regulatory framework for competition between market participants by the Federal Network Agency as an independent body. The association considers the maintenance and promotion of this framework to be very important.
