The Bundesverband der Assekuranzführungskraft eV represents the interests of executives in the German insurance industry and is also an employers' association for the private insurance brokerage trade. Its association abbreviation VGA still reminds of its old name "Association of branch managers of the insurance industry".

purpose

The purpose of the association is the perception and promotion of all economic, professional and social interests of its members as well as the training and further education of all those working in the insurance industry. It represents the interests of its members and the executive profession in the German Insurance Association and all important bodies in the insurance industry such as the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority and others. The association also works with the German Executive Association.

Working groups

The VGA has the following working groups in order to structure the topics in focus:

  • "Speaker committees"
    This is where the members of the speaker committees of senior executives find out about current issues and coordinate their actions. The working group is headed by Rainer Nicolas.
  • "Brokers in the VGA"
    This is where the underwriters and brokers in the VGA exchange ideas on current economic and legal issues. The working group is headed by Claus Marcus Götte.
  • "Education"
    This deals with all educational topics for managers in the insurance industry as well as topics related to training and further education in the industry. There is also close cooperation with the BWV - the vocational training center for the insurance industry. With Wolfgang M. Kühn and Axel Büttner, two of its members have been appointed to the task selection committee of the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which is responsible for preparing tasks for training. Insurance specialist IHK ”shows responsible. Furthermore, Wolfgang M. Kühn has been appointed to the expert committee for the framework training plan at the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry and represents the managers of the German insurance industry in the quality assurance committee of the industry initiative “well advised”. history

It was founded in Berlin in 1877 as the Berliner Assekuranz-Club (BAC) and is considered the origin association of branch managers in Germany. From 1880 to 1920, other such associations were founded at numerous German insurance sites (e.g. Association of the Agents of Fire Insurance Companies represented in Hanover), Association of Germany's Authorized Fire Insurance General Agents in Dresden. In 1921 the Reich Association of German Insurance General Agents was founded in Berlin

1934 came the dissolution by the Nazis and the compulsory replacement by the professional group insurance general agents within the Reich insurance group. After the war, the merger with the Association of Assekuradeure took place in 1951 to form the Association of German General Agents and Authorized Assekuradeure e. V. At the same time the association magazine "VGA Nachrichten" appeared for the first time. In 1966 it was renamed the Federal Association of Authorized General Agents and Branch Managers of the Insurance Industry, in 1971 it was renamed the Federal Association of Branch Managers in the Insurance Industry and finally in 1999 it was renamed the Federal Association of Insurance Managers.
