The Federal Association of the Cigar Industry eV (BdZ), based in Bonn , represents the interests of the largest German manufacturers, distributors and importers of cigar products .

The association has been campaigning for the public for the interests of member companies in the fields of economy, politics and society since the 1950s. One of the aims of the BdZ is to maintain the economic basis of the German cigar industry and its jobs. The member companies of the BdZ are mainly medium- sized family businesses and represent around 80 percent of cigar sales in Germany.

The BdZ also represents the interests of its member companies vis-à-vis politics and is available to political decision-makers as a contact and source of ideas. In relation to politics, the BdZ aims to establish a constructive dialogue in which the association wants to clarify the special features of the cigar. According to its own information, the BdZ wants to face its social responsibility and provide information about the health consequences of cigar consumption with regard to the protection of minors .
