Federal Association of Central Associations of the Real Estate Industry

The Federal Association of Central Associations of the Real Estate Industry (BSI) is an amalgamation of seven interest groups from the housing and real estate industry .

Since October 2012, the interest groups previously united in the BSI entered into a new cooperation with the Central Real Estate Committee (ZIA). In the BID Bundesarbeitsgemeinschaft Immobilienwirtschaft Deutschland , topics such as demography, energy, taxes, urban development and financing will in future be jointly represented to politicians and the public.

The following describes how the BSI worked until the BID was founded in October 2012.

As an association of the most important interest groups from the housing and real estate industry, the BSI represents common positions towards politics and the general public throughout Germany and at European level.

Core objective

The aim is to anchor the outstanding economic importance of the real estate industry in Germany in the consciousness of politicians and the general public and to improve the political, legal and tax framework of the German real estate industry.

The BSI represents the interests of seven interest groups in the housing and real estate industry nationwide and at European level. Through these associations, the BSI has 13,000 companies in the sector. BFW, GdW, IVD, BVI and DDIV manage around 12 million residential units and manage around 250,000 commercial units. The vdp stands for 56 percent of the commercial and 30 percent of the residential property financing, the VGF for more than three quarters of the market for providers of closed funds. The BSI stands for almost half of all tenancies in Germany.

The chairmanship changes regularly on July 1 of each year for one year. The Federal Association of Independent Real Estate and Housing Companies BFW has held the chairmanship and the Real Estate Association IVD the deputy chairmanship since mid-2012.
