The Federal Electoral Code , or BWO for short , is a German statutory ordinance for conducting federal elections . It is issued by the Federal Ministry of the Interior on the basis of the authorization of Section 52 of the Federal Electoral Act.

It contains, among other things, regulations on the appointment and activity of the electoral bodies, inclusion in the electoral roll, the approval of nominations and postal voting .
