Bundeswehr currently was the internal weekly newspaper of the Bundeswehr . It was published by the press and information staff of the Federal Ministry of Defense (AB 3) and dealt with a wide variety of current topics that, in the broadest sense, fell within the interests of the German armed forces. Naturally, security policy and internal armed forces events were mainly dealt with, but in August 2005, for example, an article on Wikipedia was also published.

history

On July 1, 1965, the first newspaper of the Bundeswehr appeared as a wall newspaper under the title “Mitteilungen für den Soldiers” , which was posted on the “ notice board”. It was published daily from Tuesday to Saturday. In April 1971 the newspaper was given its current name, "Bundeswehr aktuell". In 1988 it finally became the "real" newspaper and from then on appeared twice a week. The headings of the four-page edition were: Reports, Messages, Forum and Miscellaneous.

From 1997 the last format was used: a color weekly newspaper in magazine format, in which the areas of politics, background, armed forces and sport are dealt with on 16 pages. The newspaper is rounded off by the optional columns media, business, book review, film and music, as well as the personnel sheet and a " Hägar " comic strip on the last page.

The editorial team consisted of four permanent employees. In addition to a military editor-in-chief, three civil editors worked for the newspaper.

The last edition of the newspaper appeared on November 26, 2018.
