The Steinenbrück bunker is located on an overburden dump on the former mining site of the Lüderich mine in Overath-Steinenbrück . The path to the Barbarakreuz in Steinenbrück, which is visible from afar, leads past the bunker. The cross and the bunker are 149 m apart as the crow flies. An entrance that can be closed with a lid is visible above ground.

Air raid protection system

The bunker has two small rooms that were used during the Second World War to protect the miners and residents from air raids.

Exercise room for the mine rescue team

From 1957 the mine rescue team of the ore mine used the rooms for training purposes. When the pit was closed in 1978, there were considerations to demolish the empty concrete structure. The strong walls opposed this.

Mariengrotte Lüderich

The bunker is accessible to the population. On May 1, 2011, a Marian grotto was set up in the former air raid shelter . A statue of the Virgin Mary from the pilgrimage site of Međugorje (Bosnia-Herzegovina) is placed in the cathedral shaft of the bunker. The grotto is open during the day.
