Burgenland research is a series started in 1947 by the Burgenland State Archives and the Burgenland State Library . You should first publish articles in loose succession which, because of their size, could not be printed in the Burgenland homeland sheets. Gradually the volume of this periodical increased from the format of a booklet to a scientific series .

The range of topics covered by Burgenland research encompasses all areas of historical regional studies in Burgenland. The individual volumes appear as required in any sequence, on average around two volumes per year. Occasionally, special volumes appear in this series that are either dedicated to a special area of regional studies research or that are declared as Festschrift in honor of deserving employees of the Burgenland State Archives and the Burgenland State Library .

In 2017 they stopped at volume 110.
