Burger target

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Burgernziel or citizen goal was the name of the borders, including the area outside the city walls in cities of Switzerland during the eras of the Middle Ages and early modern period .

The area also included the area of agriculture and possibly forestry, the then Twing and Bann . In the municipality of Windisch , for example, the burger goal was an average of 150 meters away from the city wall. In the case of the city of Solothurn, on the other hand, the area was significantly larger, it mainly included the hamlets of Feldbrunnen and Rüttenen . So there were agricultural hamlets and settlements in these areas that were partially subject to the city ban, which were then separated out in the modern era and became independent communities. However, the trend today is that such agglomeration communities are reintegrated into the urban area, i.e. being incorporated again.
