Burgtheater

The Burgtheater Dinslaken is an open-air theater in Dinslaken that was built in 1934 right next to the medieval castle not far from the city center . The grandstand holds around 1,800 visitors and is curved in a semicircle around the lower-lying play stage. In addition to the state theater performances, cabaret evenings and open-air concerts take place. During the city festival “DIN-Tage” ([S] upport [Y] our [L] ocal [S] cene Festival) and the culture week “ Fantastival ”, the Burghofbühne is a central event location.

history

After the inauguration in 1934 with Carl Maria von Weber's opera Preciosa , the stage was played with seasonal festivals until the war years. Destroyed in an air raid in 1945, the facility was rebuilt in 1946 and initially used as a theater by the Essen Theater and the Rheinisches Landestheater Neuss . From 1955, a free acting group around Kathrin Türks was converted to the Burghofbühne Dinslaken eV, which took on the tasks of a state theater and performed, among other things, the Burgtheater Dinslaken. This ensemble has been the fourth state theater in North Rhine-Westphalia since 1991 and continues to use the Burgtheater. In 1995, organizers and actors came together to fill the open-air stage, which was only used sporadically, with life again and to integrate it more strongly into the cultural life of the city of Dinslaken. The city council decided in 1998 to mark the city's 725th anniversary to support the plans and improve the theater's infrastructure. A small stock corporation was founded to finance the stage and a total of 690 cultural shares were issued. Today a mixed program of theater, cabaret, music and other events is shown on the stage.
