The Fantastival ( proper spelling : FANTASTIVAL ) is a major annual event in Dinslaken .

This multi-day event on the Lower Rhine mainly takes place, with a few exceptions, on the open-air stage in the Burgtheater Dinslaken .

There is a wide and constantly changing program of events from the areas of: cabaret , comedy , theater , classical music , jazz , musical as well as rock and pop . In the last 10 years, thanks to the commitment of the organizers, 123 events were held for around 89,000 visitors. In 2012 it will take place from July 19-28.

history

In 1995 a group of citizens came together in the city of Dinslaken in the Wesel district with the aim of strengthening the city's cultural profile, revitalizing the cultural location of Dinslaken and making it more attractive and thus new within the music and theater landscape in the Ruhr area and on the Lower Rhine To give future viability. The aim was to revive the Burgtheater with an entertainment program. The initiative resulted in the first cultural stock corporation in Germany with 436 small shareholders, which mainly consists of Dinslaken citizens and was founded with a share capital of 150,000 DM. Even as a so-called “small stock corporation”, Freilicht AG is supported by volunteer work; it only employs a full-time manager.
