The castle wall of Janow , a district of the municipality of Spantekow in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district , is located about three kilometers south of the village on a mountain slope towards the Great Landgraben .

The castle wall has been entered in the MV soil monument list under No. 28 of the Janow district as an early Slavic castle wall since 1980. In 1982 measurements and superficial examinations took place, result: Early Slavic ceramics, lathe mills Oberstein; the finds are in the Waren Museum under inventory no .: IV / 82/128 + 301.

It is an Outbound old Slavic hill fort from the 7th to the 9th century. It lies somewhat hidden in the heather wood. It is wrongly called the Schwedenschanze , which is more common in Slavic castles. The entire castle complex is one-part and has an area of 120 meters by 80 meters.

As the area quickly became forested after the fortifications were abandoned, the castle has been preserved in good shape.

Further north is the castle of Landskron from the 16th century. It is believed that it was built on the remains of a Yavian castle.
