The Slavic castle wall Wardow is located in the municipality Wardow in the district of Rostock .
The ground monument is a good 600 meters northeast of Wardow Castle on a natural spur on the Pludderbach. It was a low castle , also known as "De rug Barg". The hill fort dates from the 10th to 12th centuries and was not far from the Via Regia , an important medieval trade route. The castle is likely to have monitored this trade route and assumed the protective function.
