Coordinates: 50 ° 6 ′ 17.5 ″  N , 8 ° 27 ′ 26.7 ″  O Burlach is a desert in the area of today's Hofheim am Taunus . It is located near the K 786, 2 km northeast of Hofheim am Taunus.

The first documentary mention of it comes from the year 1301: Baldemar, Vice Epleban of Hofheim, donated a farm and the fields belonging to it to the Arnsburg monastery in 1301 .

The place was mentioned in documents under different names:

  • villae Burlachin (1301)
  • Burlach (1426)
  • Buerloch by dem Lindenborn (1487)
  • In the bauerloch (1555)
  • construction hole (1654)
  • bauerloch (1654)

The name Burlach is derived from the Middle High German "Bur" for farmer and "Lach" for hole or marshy place. Today the district designation "Bauerlöcher Wiesen" in Hofheim refers to the former place. This is the only indication of the specific location of the place. There are no settlement finds.

According to documents from 1294, 1301 and 1356, the Falkensteiners ruled the village. In the imperial war against Philip VI. von Falkenstein in 1364/66 Hofheim and Burlach were taken by Kurmainz .
