Bursa subcutanea olecrani
The Bursa subcutanea olecranon is a bursa between the elbow bump ( Tuber olecranon ) and the overlying skin. Its interior is not connected to the elbow joint .
The inflammation of the bursae ( bursitis olecrani , ICD-10 M70.2) occurs mainly when the patient is constantly exposed to frequent propping up and is therefore also referred to as “student elbow”. But it can also develop in rheumatic diseases, gout or bacterial infection. In horses, olecranon bursitis is known as a "stud bump".
