Bushfire Research Center

The Bushfire Cooperative Research Center ( Bushfire CRC ) is a research center in Melbourne , Australia that studies the social, environmental and economic effects of bushfires . The center is a member of the Cooperative Research Centers Association (CRCA). The CRC was founded in 2003 and has a small administrative office in east Melbourne; it is to carry out research and make findings available until 2013.

The facility provides fire fighting and land management organizations in Australia and New Zealand , the Bureau of Meteorology , Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CISRO), Attorney General's Department, and fire prevention organizations and industry with scientific findings and practical guidance on fire prevention and defense available.

The research of this center takes into account knowledge of climate change , the impact of demographics and, above all, the experience and evaluation of the catastrophic bush fire in Victoria 2009 with 173 victims. The Bushfire CRC attaches great importance to the mediation, transfer of knowledge and cooperation with other institutions.
