Business Process Modeling Language

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Business Process Modeling Language ( BPML ) is an XML -based platform-independent metalanguage for describing business process models . BPML can also be used to link web services described in WSDL to form business processes. A graphic representation of the processes is possible with the BPMN language.

One characteristic of BPML is the definition of real sub-processes and transactions .

history

  • The first draft was presented by the Business Process Management Initiative (BPMI) on March 8, 2001.
  • To distinguish BPML from competing languages such as BPEL or XPDL , the BPMI joined forces with the OMG ( Object Management Group ) in June 2005 . The new working group under the umbrella of OMG is called the Business Modeling & Integration Domain Task Force (BMI DTF). Together with BPMN, the BPML became part of the OMG-MDA modeling stack .
  • The current version of BPML is 2.0 from March 2011.
